Balsamic Pork and Apples
Pork and apple is a match made in heaven the whole family will enjoy. And we’re confident that this mid-week winner combining balsamic pork and apples will soon become a well-loved classic in your household.
What You’ll Need:
4 pork loin steaks (all visible fat removed)
15g unsalted butterÂ
1tsp vegetable oilÂ
2 small red onions (cut into 8 wedges)Â
2 red apples (cored and cut into thin wedges)Â
Balsamic marinade:
100ml balsamic vinegar
2tsp honeyÂ
2tsp dried thymeÂ
Method:
- In a dish, mix the vinegar with the honey and herbs adding salt and pepper to taste. Add the pork to the dish and coat on all sides. Cover and put aside.Â
- Heat the butter and oil in a large non-stick frying pan. Add the onions and fry for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Throw in the apple slices and cook for 2 minutes until both the apple and onion has started to caramelise. Then, remove from the pan.
- Drain the pork from the marinade and leave it to one side. Cook the pork in the same pan for around 4-5 minutes on a medium heat, turn then add the onions, apples and reserved marinated. Cook for 4-5 more minutes, or until the juices from the pork run clear.Â
- Serve with the pork, onions and apples with seasonal vegetables for 4 people.Â
