Delicious Summer Turkey Burgers
Who doesn’t love a burger? As part of a BBQ or comforting dinner, burgers are a family-friendly meal everyone loves. For this recipe, we’ve taken a family friendly favourite and made it healthier with the help of turkey mince.
Ingredients
500g turkey mince
1tbsp olive oil
1 onion (chopped)
Zest of 1 lemon
4 tbsp ready-made salsa
1/2 pepper (deseeded and diced)
4 rolls
70g rocket
4tbsp houmous
Method
- Add the olive oil to a frying pan over a medium heat. Slide in the onions and cook for 5 minutes until soft and translucent. Then, put them to one side and allow them to cool.
- Put the mince in a large mixing bowl and season with a generous grating of pepper. Then, mix in the onion and lemon zest before shaping the mixture into 4 patties.
- Cook on each side for 5-7 minutes. This can either be done under the grill, on a griddle or in a frying pan. Whichever you choose make sure the burgers are cooked through and no pink meat remains.
- Meanwhile, mix the salsa with the diced pepper.
- When the burgers are cooked, slice the rolls and sandwich the burger between the two halves. Add rocket leaves, a spoonful of salsa and a healthy dollop of houmous before serving.
