German Hot Dogs

Enjoy this recipe for delicious German hot dogs with hot dogs/ sausages of your choice- the perfect accompaniment for match day!



  • 10 hot dogs
  • 10 hot dog buns
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 300ml larger
  • 1 can sauerkraut
  • German mustard to garnish



  1. The night before you plan to serve your hot dogs, place them in a plastic container and top with the onion, beer and sugar to create a marinade.
  2. Refrigerate your hot dogs overnight.
  3. The next day, drain the marinade into another container.
  4. Combine the marinade and sauerkraut in a pan, and simmer your hot dogs in the mixture for around 15 minutes.
  5. Remove the hot dogs from the pan and place in your buns, add the sauerkraut mixture on top.
  6. Serve with the German mustard- enjoy!
