Up your lunch game with a trip to Paris for this delicious treat…



  • 200ml milk
  • 20g butter
  • 20g plain flour
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of bread of choice
  • 80g grated cheddar
  • 50g grated gruyère
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste



  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. In a saucepan heat the milk, flour, and butter, whisk as you bring to the boil to create the sauce, simmer for 3-5 minutes until the flour has cooked out and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add the mustard and gruyere to the sauce and stir until smooth.
  4. Spread the sauce on to the top of 2 of the slices of bread, top each slice with the ham, add a little more sauce and top with the other two slices of bread to create two sandwiches.
  5. Top each sandwich with the remaining sauce, and sprinkle the cheddar on top.
  6. Place In the oven to bake for around ten minutes.
  7. Finally, heat the grill and place the cooked sandwiches under it until the topping is golden and crispy.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
