PERFECT CROQUE MONSIEUR
Up your lunch game with a trip to Paris for this delicious treat…
INGREDIENTS
- 200ml milk
- 20g butter
- 20g plain flour
- 4 slices of ham
- 4 slices of bread of choice
- 80g grated cheddar
- 50g grated gruyère
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- In a saucepan heat the milk, flour, and butter, whisk as you bring to the boil to create the sauce, simmer for 3-5 minutes until the flour has cooked out and season with salt and pepper.
- Add the mustard and gruyere to the sauce and stir until smooth.
- Spread the sauce on to the top of 2 of the slices of bread, top each slice with the ham, add a little more sauce and top with the other two slices of bread to create two sandwiches.
- Top each sandwich with the remaining sauce, and sprinkle the cheddar on top.
- Place In the oven to bake for around ten minutes.
- Finally, heat the grill and place the cooked sandwiches under it until the topping is golden and crispy.
